Chapter 45

The McGregor    

            Kian couldn’t stop his smiling face. He was so overwhelmed, happy as ever. He met Mark again! Finnaly he met him again. He met Mark! ‘Thank you, Lord, thank you!!’

Shane could only smile seeing the happy face of his master. He never see Kian as happy as today. Kian was so happy. He could see that.

     “Lord must love me, Shane, He brought Mark back! After mother, and now Mark, Lord must be love me very much!” with his smiled face.

    “Yes, Sir, He is.”

    “After I thought being left, now they were come back, for me!”

    “Yes, Sir,” with a smile.

    “I feel so complete, Shane. Kian is complete now.”

Shane bit his lips. This what he scared about. Kian felt complete now, with his mother and his soulmate came back, he feared Kian forgot his duty as Adeline. Kian still have another life to do, as Adeline

    “But remember, Sir, you are still Adeline,” he reminded him carefully.

    “I know that, Mark!” and that stopped him in blushed. “Sorry, Shane…, he still over my head,” he face was red.

Shane had to smile with nodded.

    “I know that, Shane, I won’t forget it. Don’t worry, I know I’m still Adeline. And I have two complete lives. Can’t you tell about that?”

    “No, Sir, I can’t. I never felt a complete family.”

Kian bit his lips. oh, God, he was forget, Shane almost never see his full family even he had a full big family, as he was being separated from his family for his better life. He lived with his aunty, Emma.

    “I’m sorry, Shane, I never meant…”

    “It’s alright, Sir.”

    “Actually, we have no different life, Shane. We are the same.”

Shane had to smile, “No, Sir, we definitely have a different life, yours is amazing. No one have life like yours, Sir.”

    “You bet, Shane. I wonder how I can get along.”

    “Because you are Kian and Adeline, Sir.”

Kian let a little laugh, “What a life, heah!?”

Shane just nodded with smiled. “And now, we have to hurry, Sir, your father had waiting for you for the party.”

Kian numb, “Earl McGreggor party. My grand father.”

     “Yes.”

Kian went silent. “I’m scared, Shane, I’m scared I couldn’t hold my self when seeing him.”

    “Don’t worry, you have Milord with you, you’ll be fine.”

Kian sighed, “Yeah, I hope so.”

Shane just nodded, and led his master home.

            As they arrived at home, the maid gave them shocking news. Prince Nicholas was looking for Adeline. This could be another problem for Kian. He almost forgot about the prince. And with Prince coming back, that would mean, the engagement would be arranged soon. Adeline couldn’t run away from it. This would be disaster if The Prince knew Lady Adeline was not the prince he dreamt of. But her Father promised, he had something to revolve it. Adeline was  just to trust him.

            At seven Adeline arrived at the Earl McGreggor mansion at seven with Marquis McFadden by her side. She felt so nervous as she knew Lady Claudia would be there too as the Earl’s grand daughter. Kian inside never thought this would be like his family reunion. His grandfather, his uncle and aunty, and his cousin, was there without they knew there’s another family member out there. Kian could only hold his heart pain as he realized they never wanted him alive. He should never show himself to his real family. But at least he had his mother now, his real family.

    “C’mon, love,” his father shook his hand gently brought him back to Adeline.

Adeline’s smiled with nodded and stepped in beside her father.

And she felt even nervous as they got in. The atmosphere suddenly trapped her. Not only the guess who greeted them with honored and she caught Claudia’s eyes in shocked, but the fact she was at Kian’s grand father’s house, Earl McGregor. And he was there. The Earl had waited for them. Adeline scanned the Earl. He was in seventieth and really looked old but still had a high spirit for his age.

    “Marquis McFadden, my dear friend,” Earl McGregor hugged and greeted her father with big warm smiled like a father .

    “Earl McGregor, welcome home,” they hugged like an old friend missed each other.

    “Well, it’s great to be back,” Earl McGregor smiled happily.

    “So how’s India?”

    “Still hot, and primitive, that’s why I came back!” he grinned

    “It’s great to have you back,” Marquis McFadden smiled polite.

Earl McGregor smiled, then turned to Marquis McFadden side made Adeline almost fainted in nervous.

    “So who’s this pretty lady, the Marchioness’s reflection?”

Marquis McFadden looked to his side with proud smiled, “Well, this is my daughter Adeline.”

Earl McGregor showed surprised face, “Adeline? That little Adeline?” with a big smiled. “The last time I saw you, you are still three, and now you had turn to such beautiful lady? You are as beautiful as you mother, so like you.”

Adeline blushed and she even red when The Earl took her hand and kiss it.

     “Earl McGregor,” Adeline bowed little, tried to act normal.

     “I have a grand daughter too, she is as pretty as you, her name is Claudia, have you met her?”

Adeline just smiled in nodded, and get a grip when he called her.

     “Claudia, come here, love….”

Lady Claudia came approached and gave a polite smile to the Marquis, but Adeline knew Claudia didn’t like her around. Adeline felt the tense and felt even discomfort. But Marquis McFadden made her easy. He made a good conversation with the earl.

And once again, Adeline naturally showed her charisma, mesmerized The Earl. And she knew the Earl liked her. Adeline mesmerized everyone there, even The Earl! She didn’t make it, it had on her manner and brain. Adeline was a conquer lady.

Shane had been walked around this McGregor’s Mansion. It was his assignment to do the observation. Anything about Kian’s family, even his grandfather mansion. Somehow, he found the way to the pictures hall, where all family members of The McGregor’s pictures were hanged. He needed another prove to say Kian was a McGregor. And he had to smiled gladly when he saw some pictures of a young lad that were totally like Kian. Pictures of Edward McGregor. The pictures showed when he was little boy, teenage, and young man. And Shane could tell he was totally looked like Kian, even when Kian was a little boy! Shane right away sure Kian was the Lord McGregor’s son. He could tell that from their faces. There was no doubt about it, Kian was a McGregor.

Kian didn’t believe he met his grand father in flesh, and he had good impression with The Earl. He was a nice person, made Kian didn’t believe he was the one who was separating his father to his mother, and made him born on the street. The Earl didn’t look that mean. Maybe time had changed him, and India had made him back to a nice person. Kian started to think, maybe Adeline could bring Willa to him, and Kian as well. But that would need time. She still didn’t know what would Earl reacted if he knew Willa was till alive and he had another grand child alive.

    “Excellent job, Milady,” a cold voice jumped her. “After The Prince and now The Earl, my grand father?” there was an angry voice in it.

Adeline turned around to fine Claudia had with her with the cold eyes. Adeline turned over, but strange, no body with her. She was not with her father, and the fact, it’s only her and Claudia. She believed her day dreaming about The Earl made her separated from his father. Adeline’s heart started to beat and fear. She was alone, some how she knew Claudia could harm her, and no one can protect her. ‘Shane’

    “How could you do that, Adeline?” with cynical voice.

Adeline tried to focus, not to show her fearness. “I.. didn’t do anything…,” Adeline tried to keep calm, even she’s not.

    “Yeah…, after you took Prince Nicholas, and now my grand father? How could you! I’ve been waiting for years to meet my grand father again, it’s been years I didn’t meet him. He tried to heal his grieving of loosing his son and grand son he never knew_”

Adeline went numb. ‘Is it true?’

    “And when I finally meet him, you.. you take his attention, and the worst he compares me on you!”

Adeline swallowed with fear, how this girl was desperate.

    “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to….”

    “Oh, yes, you meant it, Adeline, you plan it!”

    “No I didn’t.”

She approached her where Adeline couldn’t run, made her even felt trapped. Claudia was taller than her. She felt small in front of her, so powerless. And she wouldn’t disgrace her name by fighting with another lady.

Claudia touched her cheek.

    “I admit you are so beautiful, Adeline, and how much I want to scar this pretty face_” she traced the soft skin with her nail.  “I wonder, would The Prince still want you if you have scars in this pretty face.”

Adeline paled in scared.

    “Lady Adeline?”

Both Ladies turn over and found a man from them.

    “Shane!” Adeline leaped in gladness, and took the chance of pushing off Claudia from her, and run to him.

Shane took her onto his arms, still looked to Lady Claudia in anxious look.

    “Lady Claudia,” with the cold polite voice.

    “We are just having a chat,” Claudia tried calm for being caught. She gulped, “Nice to have a chat with you, Lady Adeline…,” with that she went off from them leaving Adeline shook body

Shane felt the missy shaken body on his arms. He knows she was tremble in fear.

    “Milady, what have she’s done to you? Did she hurt you?”

Adeline shook her head, couldn’t say anything.

     “O… I’m sorry, we lost you, Milady…. come…let’s go home, Marquis has waiting for you, then we tell everything.”

     “NO!” she stopped him. “No… please, don’t tell father…”

     “What, why? He needs to know, Milady, Lady Claudia has dangered your life_”

    “No, please, Shane… I beg you… don’t tell father, I don’t want he’s worried about me.”

    “He should! And we could tell Earl McGregor.”

    “NO! Not Earl McGregor. Please, Shane… no tell anybody” she begged.

And Shane knew he couldn’t upset his missy. “Yes, Milady, I would not tell anybody.”

    “Promise?”

    “Promise.”

Adeline nodded in glad.

    “Alright, let’s go home. You are so cold and pale.”

    “I’m so scared...” she still trembled.

    “I know,” he hugged her and led her uot. But as they turn around, Shane’s eyes found one picture on the wall who was such like Marchioness Evelyn. But why The Earl had a picture of her? Shane couldn’t think more, he just needed to take Lady Adeline out from this mansion. Lady Claudia was too danger for her.
